Speaking & Facilitating

These author talks, workshops, and presentations use my own story as a cancer survivor, as well as my experiences working and volunteering with hospice, to both inform and inspire about aspects of end-of-life care. I work with individual groups and organizations to create unique talks tailored to each audience. A deep appreciation for, and engagement with, life, is at the heart of these sharings.

Some topics I speak about:

  • The Alchemy of Illness: Changing Darkness to Light

  • The emotional and practical tasks of accompanying someone who is dying

  • The difference between 'curing' and 'healing'

  • The use of war metaphors in cancer care

  • Building resilience in the face of serious illness

  • Why community matters at the end of life

  • Medical Assistance In Dying (MAID): History, key data, rituals, considerations for support

  • Authorship: Writing, publishing, and staying inspired
